You’re invited to the 20th Annual Central Florida Family History Conference on Saturday, November 12th, 2016 from 9am – 3:45pm. We are one of the largest family history conferences on the East Coast of the United States! This regional event brings world-class speakers from all over the country to help you find your family’s history! Our goal is to bring you the latest news on where to find information on your ancestors as well as big, new changes to Internet research sites.
Again this year we are proudly holding the conference at OLYMPIA HIGH SCHOOL at 4301 S. Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando, FL 32835.
This much larger venue and flying in world-class experts from all over the United States has necessitated higher costs. In fact, this year we are featuring a nationally recognized family history expert: Lisa Louise Cooke from Dallas, Texas. ADMISSION: The admission fee is $35.00 per person and includes the conference notebook. Lunch and the conference CD will be available for an additional fee (details below). Please note that there can be no refunds due to our contractual agreements with vendors. The event is free for students aged 18 years old or younger! At the door, we will accept cash, checks, MasterCard, and Visa.
New this year is the opportunity to sign up for one-on-one 15-minute sessions with the experts!! Several faculty members will be available each hour, but you must act quickly to reserve a time slot! Click on the conference schedule for the classes and “Ask an Expert.”
Ten classes run simultaneously all day. View the Schedule to see all classes and times. Please register for the classes you want as soon as possible because seating is limited! You will get an e-mail confirmation of your classes and when you arrive at the conference you will receive a print-out of the class schedule you have chosen.
The conference does not have facilities for childcare, so we hope you’ll make your own arrangements for babysitting.
When you arrive at the conference, parking attendants will guide handicapped people to spaces right in front of the auditorium and then other cars can fill in! Just follow signs to the auditorium. To the right of that entrance, you’ll see a long row of tables. Above each table will be labeled letters like (A-C). Just get in the line that matches the first letter of your last name. If you have pre-registered, they’ll have your packet ready just for you with your class schedule, lunch ticket, notebook, and more. If you do not pre-register, there will be a separate table.
If you want lunch, the charge will be $10.00, which can be paid in advance or at the Registration Desk when you arrive. You must pre-register to ensure your order will be ready! Lunch will be catered by Panera Bread.
When you register, you can have your choice of a freshly-baked turkey or ham sandwich, served with a crisp quarter slice of pickle, potato chips, and a delicious chocolate chip cookie! Bottled water will also be part of the meal. The cut-off to order lunch will be Monday, November 7 at midnight. Latecomers will have to take what is still available, if any!
Just like last year, you can also purchase a CD containing all the handouts for this year plus the last five years for $10.00. There will be a limited supply of CDs (only 275), so please pre-register and order your CD by Monday, November 7 at midnight.
We strongly suggest that you register and pre-pay before the conference so you will be assured of getting a seat in the classes you want. Classrooms at the high school only hold 25-28 people so first come, first served!
